| Rowhome Walls |
|
This body of work centers around the ghosts of houses left behind when the City of Philadelphia razes rowhomes, often entire blocks at a time. These homes are destroyed in an effort to hinder crime and unsafe conditions in neighborhoods throughout the city. What is often left is a single home or group of homes where the plaster remains from the previous home. This plaster takes the outline of the rooms and stairwells that served the residents of a once-prosperous neighborhood. These walls in effect represent the continued decline of many Philadelphia neighborhoods. |
